 Annotation. Today, technical progress does not standstill. However, with the development of scientific and technological progress, a negative phenomenon has appeared - fraud on the Internet. The aim of this work is to identify the main problems of Internet fraud in the modern virtual world. This topic is relevant since Internet fraud as a social phenomenon is increasingly acquiring a negative effect on society. This article discusses the classification of fraud on the global Internet, based on which the analysis is carried out, measures to protect user information are developed, as well as measures to prevent computer crime on social networking sites.

The modern world is highly developed by computer technology and the globalization of information processes. The most striking event is the emergence of the international Internet network, as well as the large-scale expansion of its use in all spheres of social society.

The Internet has built new social relationships. Every day more and more people buy goods and services using the Internet. Therefore, the Internet provides an opportunity for the population to comfortably and conveniently carry out various operations without leaving home. With the development and globalization of this process, such a social phenomenon as fraud appears in the virtual world. Since the information and communication capabilities of the Internet are dynamically expanding, the Internet acts as a communication platform, in which various social processes and phenomena also find their place. One of the most common is fraud in various forms [1].

Recently, very often people receive messages or emails with information about winning prizes, as well as the possibility of obtaining interest-free loans, loans, etc. To receive prizes or soft loans, scammers usually ask to transfer a specific amount of money to electronic accounts or to deposit an amount of money when receiving a loan, thereby motivating people. After receiving the advance money, they start leaving the connection or ask to transfer additional amounts for registration of the prize. To defend against such "gimmicks", it is important to think about the question: "Have I participated in any prize draws", and also to be vigilant to remember that any winnings entail tax liabilities. Any request regarding the transfer of funds should alert every person.

Therefore, today there are a huge number of types of fraud on the Internet. Among them, there are very often various promotions, lotteries, virtual services, charity, begging, phishing, freelancing,

social engineering, attacks on Internet banking. All these types of operations are carried out by fraudsters using the Internet. Let us consider in more detail those crimes that take place on the Internet:

- Internet begging is the most well-known type of Internet fraud, which involves asking for a donation of a certain amount of money. The easiest way to beg is to create your own website and ask for money from your users. This type of fraud is used in social networks, especially Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki;

- online shopping scams. As an example, consider the following situation: a buyer made a decision to purchase a product, after making a decision, he pays for the product, and then either does not receive it or receives it, but in less quantity or in a worse quality;

- Phishing, which is based on gaining access to confidential data, often of a financial nature. Phishing mainly contains information that is alarming (for example, blocking a bank card). Phishers, unlike hackers, deceive the trust of citizens. Phishing is most common on social networks, email systems, internet banking, and other payment systems. Phishing can also occur during attacks using social development techniques. Having considered various critical reasons, Phishers can scare the client into providing his personal information. Sometimes phishing can also be directed to parts of the organization [3]:

Even though the Internet is a virtual space, real social processes with real social consequences are carried out in it. For example, online fraud has consequences such as financial loss as well as socio-psychological consequences that

Criminals today do not need to carry out organizational and technical measures to gain access to personal data. People willingly share them themselves. By posting detail-

analytical information about yourself on social networks, users trust them to many people. But, however, not everyone is trustworthy.

It is also important to note that today, fraud can be a crime in the computer sphere since the rapid development of information technology creates a huge number of opportunities for conducting full-fledged economic activities via the Internet.

Fraud in the field of digitalization is the theft of someone else's property or the acquisition of rights to someone else's property by entering, operating, deleting, blocking, modifying computer information or otherwise interfering with functioning means of storing, processing or transmitting computer information or information and telecommunication networks [4].

Internet technologies exacerbate the situation, as the criminal can freely move in space using various access points. Almost every individual has a chance to use Internet access for relatively little money.

According to the Kaspersky Lab, in 2018 the number of online frauds in banking structures amounted to approximately 3 thousand attacks using social engineering methods. And in the first quarter of 2020, the number of Internet attacks tripled compared to 2018 and amounted to about 10 thousand. At the same time, the potential damage, according to the laboratory, can be up to 3 billion rubles. in one quarter. In 2020, due to the threat of coronavirus infection, online fraud is gaining momentum when users are offered various compensation when paying a small commission. Therefore, today it is very important to focus on

verification of any information from various sources on the Internet to protect yourself and not become a victim of fraudsters [5].

To develop measures for the effectiveness of the fight against crime, and in particular against fraud, it is necessary to represent its objective laws, state, dynamics, nature and structure, i.e. quantitative and qualitative signs, the mechanism of committing fraud. The identity of a person who wants to remain unnoticed in the virtual space cannot be established as long as there are programs that mask the real IP address, by which you can easily determine the location of a personal computer. Therefore, it is better to be distrustful and careful than to lose all the money [6]. And in order not to become a victim of online fraud, you need to adhere to the following recommendations:

- check all the necessary information about the seller;

- do not pay for the goods before receiving;

- do not enter the card and phone at the same time;

- do not provide personal data and do not send a photo or video to a person without dating outside the Internet;

- not respond to requests for money transfers;

- track the dynamics of the emergence of new operating programs and timely install updates to them, which eliminate the errors found;

- never download or save files obtained from unreliable sources;

- it is necessary to configure the operating system so that basic security rules are provided when working on the Internet and in social networks, as well as, if possible, refuse to use the old settings of the operating programs;

- it is imperative to install a licensed antivirus and use it correctly [7].

It should be remembered that videos and broadcasts of online correspondence can be saved by fraudsters and subsequently used for illegal purposes.

There are many ways to protect against online fraud:

1) A secure username and password. It is necessary to come up with complex logins and passwords that contain large and small letters, symbols and numbers, capital letters, etc.;

2) Binding the phone. Many programs and applications have the function of binding a mobile phone number. It must be attached to confirm personal data by SMS - messages;

3) Updating software and antivirus. It is also necessary to update the system or antivirus in case of new updates. This will help protect against electronic threats. It is also advisable to have a licensed version of the antivirus and constantly check and update your computer;

4) Mindfulness and distrust. You need to be very careful and vigilant about suspicious links and letters, and it is better to immediately delete them without opening them. You should also remember and know that it is never necessary to enter your username and password from social networks on unknown sites.
